Dr Miles graduated from UWA with a PhD in Zoology in 1974, and after 6 years research in vector-borne disease control at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine decided he needed to know more about people. Consequently he obtained a medical degree from the University of London’s Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine in 1986. After GP training and becoming a Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners he worked as a GP in North London as well as a Forensic Medical Examiner for the Metropolitan Police.
In 2007 Dr Miles returned to WA and worked for 7 years for two Aboriginal Health Services covering the Western Desert from Wiluna east to the NT/SA border. From 2014 he has been working part-time with Collaborative Healthcare, helping to deliver holistic, person-centred care in the residential aged-care setting as well as in general practice.
