Mrs Marina Mickleson
Marina is a Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Midwife & Credentialed Diabetes Educator with more than 20 years of clinical experience. She specialises in specifically the management of pre -conception counselling for women with type 1 and type 2 diabetes, diabetes management for women with type 1 and type 2 diabetes in pregnancy and gestational diabetes. Marina also has vast knowledge in managing diabetes outside of pregnancy.
Marina has extensive experience in managing patients with continuous blood glucose monitoring (CGM) systems and is able to insert these and help patients with insulin adjustment to better manage their diabetes.
Marina has worked at King Edward Memorial Hospital for 20 years now and can provide our patients with shared antenatal care with your local hospital or private obstetrician. Once you have had your baby, Marina is happy to see you and your baby for your 6 week check and baby immunisations.
Marina has worked as part of the urogynaecology team at King Edward Memorial Hospital and is competent in the insertion of vaginal pessary’s for the management of prolapses.
Marina is certified in cervical screening and has acted as a mentor for many nurses and midwives while they have been doing their course. Marina is also competent in the insertion and removal or Implanon.
Marina is an active member of the Australasian and Diabetes and Pregnancy Society in which she is a board member and she has mentored numerous local and interstate diabetes educators over the years. She was involved in clinical research and regularly presented at diabetes and pregnancy workshops and conferences nationally.
